Get to Know the Vet Tech Institute
At the Vet Tech Institute at International Business College, we are devoted to helping our vet tech students become proud members of the animal health care community. Students can graduate from our veterinary technology program in as little as 18 months!
The first location of the Vet Tech Institute was part of the Median School of Allied Health Careers, founded in Pittsburgh in 1958. Since then, the Vet Tech Institute has grown to include seven locations across the United States.
At the Vet Tech Institute, faculty from the seven VTI locations share teaching methods, curriculum ideas and resources. As a result, students at the Vet Tech Institute gain from being part of a well-respected and larger institution, with the benefits of a smaller school.

- The veterinary technology program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA).
- In 18 months, students can earn their associate of applied science degree in veterinary technology.
- Students have access to on-site kennels, surgical suites and clinical labs.

Vet Tech Institute faculty members include:
Peg Villanueva, DVM, graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She worked as an associate veterinarian in mixed and small animal practices prior to purchasing a small animal clinic with her veterinarian husband. She earned her Master of Public Health (General Epidemiology) from the University of Michigan. Her diverse career includes regulatory work in the horse-racing industry, several years as a shelter veterinarian, and eight years as adjunct faculty in the Michigan State Veterinary Technology program. Dr. Villanueva has been the program manager for the Vet Tech Institute – Indianapolis since the program opened.
Mindy J. Moody, RVT, is the program RVT and technical operations manager at the Vet Tech Institute in Indianapolis. She graduated from Purdue Veterinary Technology Program. Mindy began her career as an RVT teaching anesthesia in the surgery department of Purdue’s Veterinary teaching hospital. From there she moved into a surgical referral practice where she continued as an anesthetist. This hospital then opened an ER practice and Mindy worked as the manager of the ER practice for nine years. She has also had some large animal working experience as well. She has enjoyed a long, well-rounded career in veterinary medicine.

Vet Tech Institute at International Business College is located in Indianapolis, IN and has convenient access to public transportation, parking, and recreation. The Indianapolis, IN location of the Vet Tech Institute has a reputation that has attracted students from around the state. Students benefit from this diversity and also are among peers who share their love for animals.
Many students live on-campus in our student residence facilities, which is a great way to have a stronger sense of community, shorten your commute, make close friends, and experience living on your own.
The residence facility is located directly behind the college in the Shadeland Station Apartments. It is actually a three-minute walk to class! Students who choose to live in our residence facility will reside in a fully furnished 1 or 2 bedroom apartment. There is a swimming pool and work-out facility on the premises and you are approximately ten minutes from the Castleton mall. The environment really gives the students a feel for fun “independent” living!
